French

At St Mary's Hare Park and Nursery, we are delighted to offer a vibrant French programme designed specifically for our primary school pupils. Understanding the importance of early language learning, our curriculum is crafted to ignite a passion for languages among children from a young age. Our French classes are interactive and engaging, focusing on both spoken and written French. We believe that learning a new language enriches the children's cognitive development and cultural awareness.

Our experienced French teacher employs a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles. These include storytelling, songs, games, and practical conversations. This diverse approach not only makes learning French enjoyable but also ensures that children are able to practise their new skills in a supportive environment. We periodically assess the progress of our students to ensure they are on the right path and to tailor the classes to better suit their learning needs.

We will help them develop and demonstrate substantial progress in the 5 key language skills necessary for learning French:

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Grammar

We encourage parents to support their children's language learning journey at home. Engaging with your child in simple French conversations, listening to French songs, or watching French children’s programs can significantly reinforce their learning experience.

We are keen to compliment the children's learning throughout the year with whole school French days, visiting French theatre company and a visit to the French Institute in London.

If you have any questions about the French programme or need guidance on how to further support your child at home, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Together, we can make learning French a rewarding adventure for your child.
